The lights are on
Jak and Daxter, Syphon Filter, Sly Cooper - there are some series you can't get on modern consoles. Grab your DualShock 2 controller and lets talk about why the good old days are still good.
I really miss my PS2. I sold it to get money for my XB360, and i can't get over not playing sly cooper. It's one of the most underappreciated series in a long time, in my opinion. What other PS2 series can you think of that need recognition?
I will never get rid of it. I still have my PS2 and my PS. My PS is so old it is actually called a Playstation instead of a PSOne.
If you bred HK-47, Shale, Chai Ka and Wrex, the gaming world would explode from sheer badassery.
I agree with Paul as I, too, still have my Playstation and PS2.
To me Suikoden was under-appreciated. *** good series, especially #5.
There were quite a few under appreciated games on the PS2. Here are a few I see on my shelf:
Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts: Covenant
Shin Megami Tensei (all games in the series that were released)
Suikoden III and V
Legaia 2: Dual Saga
Grandia II (I know it was a DC port, but still very under appreciated)
Zone of Enders and Zone of Enders: The 2nd Runner
Beyond Good & Evil
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
Indigo Prophecy (If more people had played it, the hype for Heavy Rain would be greater)
The Mark of Kri
Musashi: Samurai Legend
Contra: Shattered Soldier
Okage: Shadow King
you really think Psychonauts was under-appreciated? I seem to remember it getting a lot of hype when it came out, sort of reviving the puzzle/platformer genre, if i remember right. The Suikiden games were good, but i think the PS2, really started to see the fissure in japanese rpgs and western rpgs. which i dont think is a good thing.
I mean final fantasy is a "jrpg", but the early ones, up through 7, maybe 8, werent NEARLY as quirky as what they are now, and to me, that really started in the ps2 era. Perhaps it's just because more of them were getting imported, then there were previously, though.
Psychonauts got a little hype, but overall it went under the radar. I wouldn't have called it a big seller for the system.
didnt it also come out fairly late in the systems life cycle? like maybe a year or 2 before the ps3 came out?
Yeah. It was very late in the system life. It was overshadowed by the pending release of the 360.
In my opinion it would be these games
1. Sly cooper(Love these games)
2. .hack(an online game thats not online?!?!)
3. Cold winter(Great fps but you better have a good memory card)
