Yooka-Laylee
Update: Playtonic Games' spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie has met its funding goal. The game blasted past its $270,000 Kickstarter goal with no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
The game's projected delivery date is October 2016. You can check out the Kickstarter campaign here and four screenshots below.
Original Story:
The stars of the long teased Project Ukelele from a collection of former Rare developers have been unveiled – a chameleon and a bat named Yooka and Laylee.
Much like Banjo-Kazooie, the duo is named after an instrument and must work together to perform platforming feats. You can see the two above, and so far we've seen Laylee the bat carrying Yooka to extend a jump, and Yooka rolling quickly as Laylee rides on top. IGN has the first gameplay footage which you can see here.
Playtonic has decided to crowd-fund the game and is launching a Kickstarter tomorrow, where we will find out more details about the game. Some other details about Yooka and Laylee are they were created by Steve Mayles who created Banjo, Kazooie and the Donkey Kong family from Donkey Kong 64. Playtonic is also being deliberately vague about the gender of Yooka and Laylee saying, "We’ll let you guess their sexes."
