Weekend Warrior – Super Anime Car Boys XV: The Reckoning

by Kevin Slackie on Dec 02, 2016 at 01:00 PM

The Game Awards were filled with fun games and Hydroman, but now it's time to take a step back and dive into Final Fantasy XV. The weather in Minneapolis is perfect for JRPGs (thanks for the tip Ben Hanson) so a few of us are gonna cuddle up to Pokémon as well. PSX is coming up this weekend, so if the VGAs didn't sate your need for game trailers, maybe something awesome will be announced this weekend. What are you doing to fight the winter winds?

Javy Gwaltney (@HurdyIV) – I'm finally going to go see this Arrival movie Reiner won't stop yelling about and then I'm probably going to spend the rest of my weekend blasting through Anime Boi Road Trip XV so Kim, Joe, and I can all shout at each other about which Anime Boi is actually Anime Boi Supreme. Also: Wolfenstein and Titanfall 2.

Jenifer Vinson (@JenMarie_Vinson) – I've got an annual tradition of binge-watching Buffy alone in my room for a few weeks, starting around Thanksgiving, until I get through it all.  I'm in the home stretch, mid season 7!  So there's that...  Thinking I'll also go see Arrival and re-watch that new Mass Effect Andromeda gameplay trailer about 50 more times.

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) – I wrapped up my space adventures in the more-fun-than-I-thought-it-would-be Infinite Warfare campaign, so now I'm moving on to Final Fantasy XV. I know Final Fantasy is going to absolutely consume all of my spare time, but I'm also hoping to continue my playthrough of Pokémon Sun.

Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – This weekend I'm hoping to spend some quality time with Team Ico. Other than that, I should keep plowing away at Pokémon Sun to get ready for the second part of our wonderful Game Club! Then there's always Final Fantasy XV to play more of, I'm not in love with it yet but I need to keep going to see what all this fuss is about. Have a good weekend!

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – I'll be helping my brother move this weekend, helping cover PSX, and helping my daughter learn how to ice skate (by taking her to her first lesson that I paid for). Otherwise I am really starting to get into Final Fantasy XV. I have never been a fan of the series, but I am enjoying the combat enough in XV that it is keeping me engaged. Also, it's a game that I can play with my daughter, which makes it easier to find time for than something like Dishonored 2, for example, which I have been making very little progress in because my kid hates going to bed.

Ian Boudreau (@iboudreau) – I'm planning on a quiet weekend full of hot chocolate and Killing Floor 2. There's something about bursting Zed heads that's just so comforting, sort of like popping bubble wrap. Titanfall 2 is free to play this weekend too, and after hearing Javy sing its praises here at the office, I'm definitely going to be taking advantage of that. Also: burritos.

Michael Leri (@OrangeFlavored) – With Watch Dogs 2 and Infinite Warfare completed, I'm going to dive back into Dishonored 2. It turns out that that game is still pretty rad. Other than randomly dabbling in Hitman, the Batman: Arkham City remaster, and Mortal Kombat X, I'm going to finally put some time into the PS4 version of the Resident Evil remake. Playing (and loving) Resident Evil 7 piqued my interest in the original so I'm going to give it a shot. Pray to the Resident Evil gods for me.

Kevin Slackie (@KSlackie) – I didn't realize until I looked at the game clock that Pokémon Moon has secretly taken over my life, so I'm gonna try to give it a break so I can beat Gears of War 4. It's gonna be painful to watch everyone else playing Anime Car Boys and The Last Doggo while my copies are waiting at home, but I can't really complain when I'm writing this from a desk at Game Informer. There's also a silly play this weekend that I'm gonna check out. I've heard it'll make more sense than a Death Stranding trailer. Then I plan on crying for 72 hours whether Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is real or not.
