Sega Teases Valkyria Chronicles Remaster PS4 News Coming Soon

by Tim Turi on Jan 21, 2016 at 05:23 AM

Valkyria Chronicles, one of the PS3’s most criminally overlooked games, is getting a remastered PS4 version in Japan. Today, Sega teased that news about a possible western release is coming soon.

The video below from Sega Europe’s YouTube channel features a Sega representative gleefully teasing that the company will have more information next week about the chance of Valkyria Chronicles Remaster for PS4 coming to the U.S.

The turn-based, third-person strategy RPG has already been rereleased on PC, helping a broader audience fully appreciate the engaging characters, fun tank combat, and intense, large-scale battles.

Sega also confirmed that Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be coming to Japan on PS4, but there's no news on that game's chances of coming stateside. Read more about the new entry here.

Sega also says you can also win a copy of Valkyria Chronicles on PC by commenting on the YouTube video linked above, with winners being selected on Monday, January 25. In the meantime, read our review of Valkyria Chronicles on PS3 to learn why the game is great.

Our Take

I’m a tremendous fan of Valkyria Chronicles, and I poured many hours into the game on PS3. Sega seems to be heavily suggesting that we’ll be seeing it on the PS4 in the U.S., which would be a wonderful opportunity to revisit the game. My guess is that we’ll see a digital release of the game at the very least, and Sega will use those sales numbers to determine whether or not it's worth releasing Valkyria Chronicles 4 here as well.
