Borderlands Remastered Edition Listed On Australian Classification Board
The Borderlands series caught the eyes of many a gamer last generation with its vibrant cel-shaded style, but imagine how good it could look with a new-generation remaster. According to a listing from the Australian Classification Board, that project could be on the way with Borderlands: Remastered Edition.
Here are the facts: A listing for Borderlands: Remastered Edition appeared on the website for the Australian Classification Board. According to that listing, Gearbox Software and 2K Australia are the title’s authors, and 2K is its publisher. Outside of that, we don’t really know what a Remastered Edition would include, but we can hazard a guess.
It’s in Gearbox’s favor to re-release the first Borderlands game as the developer places an increasing importance on the series’ narrative with games like Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Telltale’s Tales From The Borderlands. That said, re-releasing just that first game, even with its sizeable DLC expansions, might not be enough for franchise veterans to double-dip. If Borderlands: Remastered Edition is in fact a real project from Gearbox and 2K, it’s possible that we could see Borderlands 2 and even the Pre-Sequel included to sweeten the pot.

With The Last of Us Remastered, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, the upcoming Resident Evil re-remake, and more, this new generation of consoles has been defined just as much by old games as it has new releases. As a fan of the Borderlands series, I don’t see a particular need for a Borderlands remaster just yet, but I also didn’t think we’d see a The Last of Us remaster come only a year after its initial release. Remakes and remasters clearly satisfy a particular demand in the market, and for those who enjoy them, I’m sure a potential Borderlands remake would hit the spot.
