Oculus Rift Creators Launch Oculus Share Beta
Oculus VR, the company behind the upcoming virtual reality headset Oculus Rift, announced today that its Oculus Share beta is now available to the public. Oculus Share is an online sharing platform that allows users to self-publish, download, and play Oculus-ready virtual reality games. With an original goal of $250,000, the Oculus Rift Kickstarter campaign earned nearly $2.5 million.
Oculus Share, or simply Share, is meant to provide a community for those interested in Oculus technology and content. Developers can use the platform to host their Oculus games, browse content from other creators, and provide feedback for projects within the community.
Oculus VR states that while Share is merely a sharing portal now, it will eventually serve as a one-stop marketplace for all things related to Oculus technology. Users can log in to Share using their same usernames and passwords from the Oculus Development Center. Head to the beta website here.

The impact that Oculus will have on gaming is yet to be seen. Can the Rift replace our conditioned preference for a flat screen? Or will its technology be destined for the gimmick bin like 3D cinema?
