Blog Herding – The Best Blogs Of The Community (April 5, 2018)

by Game Informer Editorial on Apr 05, 2018 at 11:30 AM

I usually wouldn't' mention this, but today is my birthday, so I am sending you all virtual slices of cheesecake (it's a tradition instead of birthday cake), because of the great blogs everyone pens week in and week out. Let's read a short, but sweet, Blog Herding edition!

Community Blogs For March 29 – April 4:

The 50 Best Games: 50 – Donkey Kong Country 2
Nathan Anstadt keeps it short, but I don't mind reading just a tiny bit of words on what was one of my favorite, and most frustrating, experiences with a game. I love old-school Donkey Kong – event that blistering hard game Rare was able to jam into a yellow Gameboy cart. Donkey Kong Land was tough.

10 Characters I Want In Super Smash Bros.
Wanting new characters in Smash is an ever-present addiction. Here, TrentDF writes about the brawlers he'd throw into a transforming Pokémon Stadium to duke it out. I'm not sure about every choice, especially Cranky Kong (even if that would be fun).

Kirby Star Allies From An Aging Kirby Fanboy
Heropon gives us a look at Kirby through the lens of a true Kirby fan. It sounds like Allies is a fun romp, though I long for the days of the NES games, which had just the most charm and unbeatable soundtracks.

8-Bit Baseball Ads
Old ads for games are absolutely bonkers. Psydswipe has collected a bunch of old advertisements for baseball games in this blog. It is always interesting to see how fanciful and creative ads could be for games that were all pixels. A fun romp down memory lane.

A Gaming Life: Pt. 2 – Digital Gaming Amnesia
Dominic Cichocki is here to write about memory, but not just Cloud's infamous amnesia. He writes about how he often forgets about games after beginning them, and never finishes them in the process (I'm guilty). He's made it his goal to buy more digital games, something he doesn't like to do, and beat more games.

I hope you enjoy the blogs! Please contact me via my Game Informer page or on Twitter at @LouisGarcia12 with any blog news or playdate suggestions.
