Resident Evil 5 And 6 Are Coming To Switch This October

by Andrew Reiner on Jul 16, 2019 at 11:17 AM

Capcom's long-running survival horror series isn't done infesting the Nintendo Switch just yet. Ports of the co-op-focused Resident Evil 5 and 6 are slated to release on October 29. Switch players are slowly getting the chance to experience the core series. Capcom has so far released Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil 4 for Nintendo's handheld/console hybrid. Both Resident Evil Revelations titles are also available.

Resident Evil 5 originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2009, and received a glowing 9.5 out of 10 review from Game Informer's Joe Juba, who exclaimed "Resident Evil 5 succeeds in staying close to what gamers loved about the last title, but it also takes risks that pay off in unexpected ways. Co-op changes your approach to survival horror, and the masterful pacing ensures you never take your eye off the action."

Resident Evil 6 released in 2012 for the same systems, but was a step down from its predecessor, netting an 8.75 out of 10 review from Game Informer' s Tim Turi. "Over the years, the tone of the Resident Evil series has morphed from a George Romero horror flick to Michael Bay summer blockbuster. That metamorphosis into insane action is front and center in Resident Evil 6, and bringing a buddy along for the chaos is great fun," Turi wrote. "The game’s minor flaws don’t hold back the decadent experience from being an unhinged, flaming rollercoaster ride."

The Switch port of Resident Evil 5 comes packaged with the Lost Nightmares and Desperate Escape story expansions, versus mode, No Mercy mode, and all of the figures and costumes. It also delivers Mercenaries United, which combines Mercenaries and Mercenaries Reunion modes. Resident Evil 6 also includes all of the DLC for free, along with two costumes for each character that players originally had to unlock through Residentevil.net.

Here's hoping Capcom has plans to port the rest of the Resident Evil games to the Switch in the near future.
