Telltale Games announced that it was working on an adaptation of Robert Kirkman's the Walking Dead comic series early last year, but aside from seeing a handful of images we haven't heard much since. It looks like that's about to change with the launch of the game's official website and a new batch of in-game screens.

Telltale has launched its official site for the game, which will eventually include game news and other announcements. In the meantime, it's a great way to see the company's new online talk show, Playing Dead, which focuses on the game's development. The first episode (of nine planned shows) is now live, featuring conversations with the team about their inspirations for the game. It's hosted by AJ LoCascio, the actor who provided the voice of Marty McFly in Telltale's Back to the Future series.

The first episode sheds some light on the game's story, which, in true Telltale tradition, is episodic. The first episodes are set while the comic's protagonist Rick Grimes is still in a coma. Players will be able to see what Glenn and Hershel were up to in the early days of the zombie infestation. They'll also see this horrific new world through the eyes of Lee Everett, a former criminal who was freed from a police car after a crash. He meets up with Clementine, a young orphaned girl.

Lead designers Jake Rodkin and Sean Vanaman assure players that the introduction of the child-and-adult dynamic doesn't mean players will be pulling any escort-mission duty. Instead, they say that she will provide greater context for how Lee's actions directly affect the people around him. Choice is a big thing in Telltale's Walking Dead games, and the designers say that player decisions will not only carry over through the duration of a particular episode, but that they will have ramifications throughout the entire run of the game.

Look for the Walking Dead on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 later this year.
