Three Zenimax Online Studios leads on the ambitious The Elder Scrolls Online have come together to demonstrate why teaming up in Tamriel is a good idea. The video features creative director Paul Sage, lead gameplay designer Nick Konkle, and dungeon lead Dan Crenshaw.

The video begins with two of the party members, a mage and healer, taking on an enemy. Following that, we get a look at the fast travel options that enable parties to more easily find one another. Wayshrines allow players to teleport directly to others in the group.

The main attraction is a “dark anchor” encounter, during which Daedric prince Molag Bal attempts to pull the mortal plane into his own world. Cultists, sacrifices, and waves of enemies are on display as the trio dislodges the anchor from Tamriel.

A couple of things we noticed is how fluidly combat moves, regardless of which point of view is in play. Additionally, the hallmarks of Elder Scrolls gameplay, especially stealth and the flexibility of character builds have been translated into the MMO.

The Elder Scrolls Online launches first on PC and Mac on April 4. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 releases will come later. For more on The Elder Scrolls Online, you can check out our coverage from the June 2012 issue and read a journal of our time with the game at Gamescom 2013.
