Soma
Frictional has just added another title to Sony's "sparse" lineup for this fall. Soma is coming in September for PlayStation 4 and PC.
The underwater horror game from the creators of Amnesia: The Dark Descent presents a claustrophobic, intimidating atmosphere. In the gameplay clip below, you'll see a moment that recalls one of the earliest Soma live action trailers.
That machine thinks he's people, which makes things that much creepier. You'll also note that there is a lumbering, lurking evil presence. Just like in Amnesia, it seems we'll want to avoid it at all costs.
Soma will be out on September 22 for PC and PlayStation 4. We'll have more from E3, and you can read our most recent preview. In the meantime, Frictional sent out a cryptic email yesterday that included a link to two new live-action trailers.
If you look closely, you'll see a connection to the gameplay trailer. The second gives us another look at one of the robots that thinks it's people. Clearly, there is something going on under the water that is killing people and uploading their consciousnesses.
If you like what you see, there also seems to be an alternate-reality game in progress. You can access something called the PathOS and navigate through its file structure. There are more movies and sound files available to explore. Happy hunting.
