If a full-length movie isn't enough to immerse you in the world of Final Fantasy XV, Square Enix has announced another way for players to experience the characters and setting beyond the core game. A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV is a retro-styled 2D brawler that releases alongside the main installment on September 30.

In North America, the game is an exclusive pre-order bonus at GameStop. [Full disclosure: Game Informer is owned by GameStop] The game is set 30 years before the events of Final Fantasy XV, and stars a young King Regis as he fights an array of iconic monsters.

A King's Tale is coming to PS4 and Xbox One.
