State Of Decay 2 Collector's Edition Announced, Doesn't Come With Game

by Robbie Key on Mar 13, 2018 at 11:58 AM

Microsoft has announced State of Decay 2 is getting a $69.99 collector's edition, typically a reasonable price for a collector's edition. There is a catch, however: It doesn't come with the game.

The State of Decay 2: Collector's Edition comes with a collectible steelbook case (for the game you buy separately), a human brain stand for the steelbook, zombie mask, a literal 4 GB thumb-drive, and a patch. The game itself is available separately for $29.99 for the base edition or $49.99 for an ultimate edition that includes two DLC packs As previously announced, the title will also be available for free to Xbox Game Pass members.

State of Decay 2 launches May 22 on Xbox One and PC.

Our Take
State of Decay 2 is one of the more anticipated first-party titles on Microsoft's current slate of releases, but this collector's edition feels like a missed opportunity. The fact that it doesn't come with the game is just insult to injury. On one hand, it allows people who want to buy the title digitally to do so, but that price still seems a little steep for the items included in this package. Even so, we're still looking forward to playing State of Decay 2 when it launches this May.
