Ubisoft Delays Far Cry 5 And The Crew 2

by Cody Mello-Klein on Dec 07, 2017 at 11:43 AM

All good things come in time. Ubisoft announced today that both Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2 have been delayed. Far Cry 5 will now launch on March 27, a month after its original February 27 release date, while The Crew 2 will now hit the open road in the first half of Ubisoft's 2018-2019 fiscal year instead of on March 16.

According to a Ubisoft blog post, "For Far Cry 5, the extra time will allow the team at Ubisoft Montreal to make some additional improvements that will bring the best, most ambitious Far Cry experience in line with the team’s original vision."

Despite the delays, you will be able to see a little more of Far Cry 5 on Ubisoft's blog tomorrow at 10pm PST. You can also sign up for The Crew 2 beta here.

Our Take
Although this hurts the part of us that wants to play these games, delays are more often than not for the best. The success Ubisoft found by giving Assassin's Creed Origins a bit of breathing room paid off, so while these delays are not to the extent of Origins' "year off" approach, it is good to see Ubisoft giving its studios the time they need to make their games better.
