PUBG Developer Reveals New Project Ascent: Infinite Realm

by Keenan McCall on Nov 09, 2017 at 12:11 PM

Bluehole has a new game in the works, this time aimed at the MMORPG market.

In a new trailer released earlier today, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds developer Bluehole Studios unveiled their new project Ascent: Infinite Realm. A high fantasy steam punk-inspired MMORPG, the game offers a mix of traditional fantasy MMORPG gameplay and exploration mixed with aerial dog fights, mech shootouts and customizable airships.

Though the trailer shows some severe lag at points, there are dozens of well rendered characters and vehicles on screen at once, as well as massive enemies that take up considerable portions of the game world.

The full trailer, posted to the game's official YouTube channel and newly unveiled website, can be viewed below. Kakao predicts a beta for A:IR will be available in the first half of 2018.

Our Take
The prospect of an MMORPG with this many different gameplay elements is exciting, but the lag during certain portions of the trailer is worrying. Hopefully they'll be able to smooth out the experience by the time the next preview rolls around.
