Crackdown 3 Delayed To Spring 2018

by Imran Khan on Aug 16, 2017 at 04:35 PM

Microsoft has announced today that Crackdown 3, their premiere launch title for the Xbox One X, has been delayed until Spring next year.

The Crackdown sequel, developed by Sumo Digital in collaboration with Reagent Games, was originally announced at E3 2014 and Microsoft fully committed to the game as a 2017 launch title for the Xbox One X. The first reveal was accompanied by Microsoft boasting about how the game was only possible with Microsoft's cloud-based physics engine, a claim that they have mostly backed off from in the years following.

Crackdown 3 was last shown at E3 2017 where it was revealed that the game will star actor Terry Crews. The Xbox One X is scheduled for release on November 7, 2017.

Our Take
Microsoft needed a game like Crackdown at launch to make an argument for the Xbox One X. The game has been long-delayed and it needed a new system launch as much as the system needed it. Hopefully the delay helps them figure out where this game is going.
