First Footage Of Spider-Man: Homecoming Shown At SDCC

Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming, a superhero movie with a high school twist, showed its first ever footage at San Diego Comic-Con.

While the film is still in production, director Jon Watts and the rest of the crew nonetheless were able to show a short snippet to fans at the panel. The clip, which currently isn't online, begins with Joan Jett's Bad Reputation playing in the background, as a montage of high school yearbook photos, with Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, and many others appears on screen. "All heroes have a beginning," it states. After this intro, it moves to present day.

We see Peter Parker sitting in class, who isn't paying attention and is instead watching a YouTube clip on his laptop of himself battling Giant Man from Civil War. The teacher calls him out, but luckily Peter knows the answer instantaneously.

Now, the trailer takes the form of a school schedule on screen, with 2:30 p.m. slotted in as Women Studies. Peter and friends notice some girls who they stare at, all the while another girl gives them a dirty look for doing so. Next, Peter is in chemistry class, and discovers a strange, sticky substance which he sticks a pencil into for kicks. This, in turn, gets him yelled at.

Later in the study hall, Peter abruptly leaves his group of friends without an explanation. The scene cuts to him jumping and crawling onto buildings, and landing on a huge truck. Finally, one of the final shots is of Vulture, confirming that the supervillain will make an appearance in the movie. He's also featured in the concept art image above in this article.

Spider-Man: Homecoming releases in theaters as of July 7, 2017.
