Kirby Takes Control Of A Transforming Mech In Planet Robobot

by Jeff Cork on Mar 03, 2016 at 10:41 AM

Shapeshifting is kind of Kirby’s thing. One giant gulp from the pink puffball is all it takes for him to slurp up a bad guy, absorb its special abilities, and use the newfound power to defeat Dream Land’s enemies.

In the character’s latest outing, Kirby: Planet Robobot, he can hop into a mech and give his feet a much-needed rest, but don’t worry – the suit has a few transforming tricks of its own.

The bad guys (it’s always the bad guys) have invaded Dream Land and warped it with twisted mechanical monstrosities. Kirby uses the machines to his advantage, popping into the cockpit of a mech suit to battle enemies. He can use it to suck up the powers of enemy bots, too, getting special abilities like giant fists to smash his way through the levels.

The game supports all of the released Amiibos, with Mario providing a fire attack, Link giving Kirby a sword, and more. Four special Kirby Series Amiibos are also being released: Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dedede, and Waddle Dee.

In addition to the main game, Planet Robobot features a new multiplayer mode called Team Kirby Clash. Up to four players can join forces against bosses, taking on different combat roles and gaining experience and leveling up along the way.

Look for the game on 3DS on June 10.
