Ubisoft Learns From Rainbow Six Siege's Mistake; For Honor To Have Solo Campaign

by Mike Futter on Jan 11, 2016 at 08:37 AM

One of the trends of the last year was a shift away from including solo campaigns in multiplayer-focused games. Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege suffered from its absence after a history of enjoyable single-player experiences.

For Honor, Ubisoft Montreal's four-versus-four multiplayer game won't be repeating that mistake. In an update last week, producer Stephane Cardin addressed fan questions about the game.

"One of big questions we received and feedback was about the solo campaign," he says. "We said that we will have a solo campaign, and I can promise you that we will have a solo campaign. It's one of the key subjects we're working on."

We had a chance to go hands on with For Honor shortly after it was announced at E3 2015. You can read our impressions of it for more information. For Honor is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Our Take
It's not the end of the world if a game doesn't have a single-player campaign (or multiplayer modes for that matter). However, what does come on the disc needs to be worth the asking price. The problem with Star Wars: Battlefront and Rainbow Six Siege is that they feel incomplete out of the box. This is a trend that needs to be corrected quickly.
