Four Heroes, New Battleground, New Mode Revealed For Heroes Of The Storm

by Mike Futter on Nov 06, 2015 at 07:38 AM

Update: In addition to the earlier news, Blizzard has confirmed Overwatch's Tracer for Heroes of the Storm. The hero will be included with the Origins edition of the game and, we expect her to be available for sale as normal, also.

Original Story:

Blizzard’s MOBA, Heroes of the Storm, is set to grow again. At Blizzcon, the publisher unveiled three new heroes, a new mode, and a new battleground for its free-to-play game.

The new Arena mode gives you a choice of three random heroes. After you make your selection, you'll be able to pick one ability and square off with the enemy team. As for the new characters, it's about to get a little crazy.

First up is the two-headed ogre, Cho’gall. Prior to meeting his end at the hands of gamers in World of Warcraft, Cho’gall led the Twilight’s Hammer clan.

Two players will control the double-headed hero. This is going to test the limits of friendship and teamwork. He won't be for sale, though. Players at Blizzcon, those with virtual tickets, and some online players will have him added for free. This will happen over the next month.

The rest of players will go on a quest to earn him. If you partner with someone who has Cho'gall, you'll be able to play as him. After two matches, you'll get him unlocked. Owners who partner for four matches with those who don't yet have the hero will get a sack of Heroes of the Storm gold.

Next is Lunara, a dryad from Warcraft. She has acrobatic abilities using her equine lower half to her advantage.

King Genn Greymane also represents the Warcraft universe as a new Heroes of the Storm character. Not only is he formidable in his human incarnation, but Greymane is also a Worgen capable of transforming into lupine form.

In addition to the three heroes, Blizzard revealed a new battleground. The Towers of Doom features a new objective style. Players will work to decimate their opponents towns, thereby taking them over.

We’ll have more on Heroes of the Storm from Blizzcon.
