Final Fantasy XI’s Last Story Arc Begins Today

by Mike Futter on May 01, 2015 at 04:22 AM

Square Enix has announced the beginning of the end for Final Fantasy XI. The final updates for the game, Rhapsodies of Vana’diel, start today with The Goddess’ Gala.

The first chapter of Rhapsodies of Vana’diel includes a two-part campaign. From April 27 through May 11, players can earn mysterious items in the Assault - Nyzul Isle Uncharted Area Survey campaign. Additionally, campaigns will offer double experience points and increased rewards.

From May 11 through May 30, the Additional Seal Battlefield Spoils campaign will be underway. Defeating certain monsters will reward players with more items and materials, specifically those for crafting high-end gear.

From now until the end of May, defeating monsters will earn double experience and capacity points. There’s also a special chest that players can collect once that will have Atma (one of eleven varieties), one piece of lunar Abyssite, or 100,000 Cruor. Full details on the first chapter of Rhapsodies of Vana’diel (and the potential rewards) can be found on Square Enix’s website.

Anyone who previously had an active Final Fantasy XI account is welcomed back for free from May 15 to May 25. You’ll need to migrate your account to the Square Enix account system in order to take advantage of this.

For those that want to catch up, you can purchase the entire Final Fantasy XI experience for $9.99 (regularly $39.99). If you just need the latest expansion, Seekers of Adoulin, you can grab that for $4.99 (regularly $29.99). These prices are in effect through June 1.
