David Gaider, the writer behind all three Dragon Age games, has announced he is moving to another project. He won’t be leaving BioWare though, so fans need not worry about the studio losing his voice.
Gaider made the announcement via Twitter today.
In addition to the Dragon Age games, Gaider penned three novels in the franchise. He also wrote three comic series set in Thedas. According to series creative director Mike Laidlaw, Patrick Weekes will be taking over lead writing responsibilities on the Dragon Age series. Weekes had been part of the Mass Effect writing team until the third entry was wrapped up and began working on Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Prior to joining the Dragon Age team, Gaider worked on Baldur’s Gate II, Neverwinter Nights, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. For more on Gaider, read an interview with him focused on one of Dragon Age’s most striking characters: Morrigan.

I’m eager to hear what Gaider is going to be working on. It could be the new Mass Effect game or it might be the undisclosed new IP that we know BioWare is developing.
