Themes Come To PlayStation Vita Tonight As Part Of Update 3.30

by Mike Futter on Oct 01, 2014 at 10:23 AM

The PlayStation Vita is getting a new system update this evening that will bring along a number of customization options. Among them is the option to purchase and install themes that change your background and icons.

Four themes will be available at launch (no prices have yet been listed), with game-related decorations (like the Uncharted: Golden Abyss skin seen above) coming later. The update will also enable customization of the background music.

The new patch also brings added functionality to the calendar app. With it installed, you’ll be able to send meeting/appointment invitations to friends using the messaging or email apps. Finally, the trophy rarity feature of the PS4 comes to Vita, so you can know just how special each of your accomplishments really is.

Our Take
This seems like such a small thing, but we tend to spend so much time with our gaming devices that making them feel just that much more “ours” goes a long way. I’m looking forward to more accessible customization choices, especially since screenshots can be used to dress up the backgrounds.
