Activision is reviving the classic Sierra label to put out indie titles on digital platforms. Its first two announced projects are Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions and a new King's Quest adventure.

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is being developed by Lucid Games, and is scheduled to come out this holiday season. The game will have co-op and competitive multiplayer, single-player, 50 challenges, and 10 modes (including five new ones for the series). According to Pete Wallace, the studio head of Lucid, the game will appear on "more platforms than ever before." The confirmed platforms include Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, and PC.

The new King's Quest game is slated to appear in 2015, and is being handled by The Odd Gentlemen – the studio behind The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom. This new title centers around King Graham sharing stories of his adventures with his granddaughter Gwendolyn.

Commenting on the label's mission, Bob Loya, senior director of external development said, "Sierra's goal is to find and work with gifted up-and-coming indie developers working on their own amazing projects, or passionate about working on great Sierra IP, and leverage our expertise to aid them in bringing these fun and exciting experiences to gamers with the level of visibility and awareness they deserve. In addition to Lucid Games and The Odd Gentlemen, we're in talks with a large number of other indie devs, and can't wait to share more details with fans in the near future."

Our Take
Good news all around, from The Odd Gentlemen handling a beloved series to an all-new – and unexpected Geometry Wars. Cool to see that the label is not only handling its own legacy, but moving forward as well.
