World Of Warcraft: Warlords Of Draenor Gets Release Date Event

by Harry Mackin on Aug 04, 2014 at 07:35 AM

Blizzard announced today that they will be live streaming the World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor Cinematic and Street-Date Reveal Event. Along with the premiere of the Warlords of Draenor cinematic and release date, the event will feature an interview with WoW designers Ion Hazzikosta and Brian Holinka, and the premiere of the first episode of the World of Warcraft lore-based mini-series Lords of War.

The World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor Cinematic and Street-Date Reveal Event will be presented by Mike Morhaime, Chris Metzen, Ion Hazzikosta, and Brian Holinka. The event will be held live on August 14 at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles, CA from 9:30-10:15 am PDT (11:30-12:15 pm CST). Doors to the theatre open at 8:30 am.

Fans who attend the live event will receive keys to the Warlords of Draenor beta, even if they can’t actually get into the theatre. Those who can’t make it to Los Angeles can watch the live stream at World of Warcraft’s website

Warlords of Draenor is the fifth expansion for Blizzard’s huge MMORPG World of Warcraft. The expansion’s release date will be announced at the event on August 14. We’ve had a couple chances to play Warlords of Draenor; you can watch PC Editor Dan Tack and Executive Editor Andrew Reiner play the Warlords beta in this test chamber, or read Dan’s hands-on impressions of the PAX East 2014 demo.

Our Take
Fans of World of Warcraft have been looking forward to the Warlords of Draenor release date announcement for what feels like an eternity, so just knowing specifically when we'll get a date is major news.

The expansion cinematics are always really exciting and visually impressive, as well, and Blizzard tends to go all-out with its events, so it'll probably be worth it for fans to at least tune into the live stream. Those who are interested in actually attending the live event, even if only to get their hands on Beta codes, should consider getting there well before doors open, as there will likely be quite a crowd.
