by Wayne Stainrook on Jul 15, 2014 at 11:08 AM

With two new Shantae games in development, fans of the hair-whipping heroine have plenty of to look forward to this year. For those looking to whet their appetites until the release of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero and Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Wayforward has announced Shantae: Risky's Revenge – Director’s Cut is now available on PC via Steam.

Originally released as a DSiWare title in 2010, the re-release of the series' second game receives Steam trading cards, achievements and customizable controls, including controller support. In terms of changes to gameplay, Wayforward has introduced a Magic Mode, which features an alternate costume, and an improved warping system.

Our Take
Though this version of Risky's Revenge has a higher price tag than the iOS version, the extra content may be worth it for those looking to scratch that classic platforming, puzzle-solving itch. Plus, if touch controls aren't your thing and you don't own a DS or 3DS, this is a perfect opportunity to check out the series if you're curious about the forthcoming entries.
