NIS America Bringing Four New Games To The West In 2014

by Jeff Cork on Feb 14, 2014 at 03:19 AM

NIS America has announced that it's bringing four games to the west in 2014, including Battle Princess of Arcadias, Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, and Fairy Fencer F.

Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited (pictured above) is coming to the Vita this summer. It's an expanded version of the PS3 strategy RPG Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, which includes a new spell tier, additional scenarios, and new music tracks.

Next up is the action-RPG Battle Princess of Arcadias. This beat 'em up features party-based action and upgradable gear. It's due out sometime in 2014 exclusively on PS3.

Fairy Fencer F is a turn-based RPG featuring work from Final Fantasy alums including artists Yoshitaka Amano and Tsunako, and composer Nobuo Uematsu. The game features god-forged weapons that have the power to grant a single wish to those who manage to wield them. It's set for a fall release for the PlayStation 3.

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair is the final game announcement from NIS. This mystery adventure game puts Vita owners on an island, where they have to work with (or against) their fellow high-school students if they hope to survive. The game features interrogations and a tribal-council minigame, where players have to blast through other students' stories and uncover the truth. It's coming this fall, but you can read our recent review of the first Danganronpa now.

Our Take
NIS continues to fill a niche by bringing a wide variety of Japanese games to the west. There aren't many publishers around anymore that are willing to take these risks, so their efforts deserve appreciation – even if you don't think you'll even play any of these titles.
