Microsoft Announces Two Upcoming Xbox One System Updates
Microsoft is getting ready to roll out the second and third updates to the Xbox One platform. Users will see usability increases with both, and major improvements to social features coming just a week before Titanfall arrives.
The first update will land on February 11. A lot of what will be delivered next week is under the hood, with improved Kinect voice commands and stability improvements.
Users will get two oft-request features, though. Once updated, the Xbox One will allow users to directly manage storage. This will be enhanced by newly split lists of games and apps, the ability to order download priority, and better indications of update progress. Additionally, a battery power indicator (visible in the image above) for active controllers returns, and support for USB keyboards will come online.
On March 4, Microsoft will be laying out the red carpet for Titanfall. We don’t have all the details yet, but Microsoft is promising “many new features and improvements, specifically to our party and multiplayer systems.”
Titanfall arrives on March 11 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. A beta is coming some time soon.

Microsoft promised improved social features, and it’s great to know they’ll arrive before Titanfall lands. I expect to be spending a lot of time in parties and adding new friends in March. Here’s hoping that Microsoft checks all the boxes on the social update.
