Nintendo Gives eShop Credits For Canceled Batman: Arkham Origins DLC
Warner Bros. Interactive has elected to not continue support of the Wii U for Batman: Arkham Origins. Since the upcoming single-player campaign DLC will not be available to Wii U owners, Nintendo will refund the full price of the game's Season Pass with an eShop credit.
GoNintendo published this official statement from Nintendo:
Thanks so much for your support of Batman: Arkham Origins on Wii U.
We are contacting you today because you purchased the Batman: Arkham Origins Season Pass for Wii U. We hope you've been enjoying the content that has been delivered thus far. Based on demand for Downloadable Content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming new story campaign for Wii U. As a result, we will be crediting the entire $19.99+tax cost of the Season Pass back to your Nintendo eShop account. You will still be able to enjoy the content already released thus far.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your support of the game.
Nintendo of America Inc.
It is important to note that you'll be able to keep all previously released DLC despite the fact that Nintendo is giving a credit for the full amount of the Season Pass.
It's nice that Nintendo has stepped in to cover for Warner Bros. in an effort to make sure Wii U owners don't feel ripped off. Still, this is just another indication of how little faith third-party publishers have in Wii U. At this rate, we might soon be looking at a situation where Nintendo alone is the only company supporting Wii U, at least in terms of disc-based, triple-A product.
