R.B.I. Baseball '14 Coming To Current And Next-Gen Consoles Soon
It's been a long time since we've seen a new R.B.I. Baseball game, but a new entry, produced by Major League Baseball Advanced Media, is planned for release this Spring.
Details on how the game will play and how it will look are scant, but according to the game's official website, it is planned for release in Spring 2014, and will be available on "Current and next generation consoles and mobile devices." You can follow the website for more details, as well as the game's Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Major League Baseball Advanced Media is a partnership of Major League Baseball's club owners and handles the digital side of MLB, including MLB.com. R.B.I. Baseball '14 will be the first video game produced by the partnership.
Earlier this year, 2K abandoned its MLB license and deleted all traces of the series from its websites, leaving the PlayStation exclusive The Show series without competition for 2014. R.B.I. Baseball '14, whether it's a small downloadable game, or a full-blown baseball simulation game will be The Show's only competition this year.
You'll have to excuse the pun, but this announcement comes from left field. It's been nearly 20 years since a new R.B.I. Baseball game has reached retail, and suddenly, only a few days after MLB 2K's confirmed disappearance, here comes another baseball game to possibly capable of butting heads with The Show. Competition can be a good thing, and baseball has been under-represented in the world of video games for the past few years (especially for Xbox owners), so hopefully R.B.I.Baseball '14 lives up to its once-thought-abandoned legacy.
