Start Lining Up To Buy One Of 444 Unclaimed PlayStation 4 Units At Sony's Launch Event

by Mike Futter on Nov 13, 2013 at 03:07 AM

If you're in New York City and don't mind lining up until Friday at midnight, you can get your hands on one of 444 PlayStation 4 units that will be available without a pre-order. Sony has created a pop-up store at the Standard Hotel in the Meat Packing District (848 Washington Street).

In addition, there will be a midnight launch event featuring 30 kiosks and an ambitious art installation that will display images on the side of the 18-story building. Throughout the hotel there will also be developers playing their games in non-traditional settings and projected on walls.

There is also an interactive art installation in the front of the hotel. All of this leads up to live broadcast that promises to have new information and reveals. If you're planning on lining up to buy a console though, do not bring cash. Only credit cards are accepted.

Our Take
I've been at The Standard this week, and it's been exciting to watch the hotel start to transform into a PlayStation 4 launch headquarters. If you're in NYC and have the time, this event is sure to be great, as there are a lot of wonderful developers here. You never know who you might see.
