BioShock 2 On Steam Free For Those With Original Release, Discounted For Others

by Mike Futter on Oct 04, 2013 at 08:44 AM

When 2K Games released BioShock 2 on PC, it carried with it the despised (and now deceased) Games for Windows Live. Now that Games for Windows Live is no more, those that owned a Games for Windows Live version can redeem their codes on Steam for free with an added bonus.

Existing owners get the Minerva's Den DLC free when moving over to Steam as a way to smooth the transition caused by the sunset of Games for Windows Live. The Steam version also comes with controller and achievement support, along with Big Picture mode.

For those that haven't yet played BioShock 2, it's only $9.99 through October 7. It's also available in a bundle with the original BioShock for a total of $19.99. The Minerva's Den DLC is available for purchase at a discounted rate of $4.99.

If you haven't played the original BioShock titles, now's a great time to add them to your collection.

Our Take
Playing through BioShock Infinite's Burial at Sea DLC makes me nostalgic for the original adventures in Rapture. If you've not played these on the PC, picking up both for $19.99 is hard to turn down.
