Activision Announces Destiny Beta Invite Program For Pre-Orders

by Matt Helgeson on Oct 01, 2013 at 07:51 AM

If you want to get in on the early access beta for Bungie's online shooter Destiny, you'll need to pre-order the game.

In a press release, Activision announced that it will be giving out early beta invites to those who pre-order the game at participating retailers (no specific list was given, but we imagine most of them will participate).

The beta will launch in early 2014 and promises "a diverse sampling of activities featured in the full game."

Activision also released some new screens and concept art and a new trailer that details an alien threat buried deep within the Earth's moon.

Our Take:
While some might be annoyed that Activision is linking beta access with pre-orders, this is sure to garner a lot of interest. While, so far, Respawn's easy-to-grasp, polished Titanfall has been the next-gen shooter with the most buzz, but it wouldn't surprise me if Destiny ended up being the deeper and more lasting experience - if Bungie can pull off its ambitious plans.
