Nintendo Will Not Have A Traditional Keynote At E3 2013
Nintendo announced today that they will be choosing a different method than in years past to showcase their products to the media at this June's Electronic Entertainment Expo. At past events, Nintendo has joined Sony and Microsoft in holding a separate keynote address.
In his presentation to investors today, global president (and new CEO of Nintendo of America) Satoru Iwata cited the Nintendo Direct presentations as a successful tool in distributing information to the public. While the company is still investigating how they will communicate with home audiences in North America and Europe during the show, Japanese audiences will be informed via additional Nintendo Direct streams.
In Los Angeles, there will be an event for distributors and a hands-on opportunity for media, but the traditional stage presentation has been deemed unnecessary. The focus of Nintendo's E3 showing will be Wii U software and not hardware. Furthermore, Iwata stated that he will not be speaking, and it was unclear whether he is planning to be in attendance.
