Relic Entertainment Co-Founder Hired As THQ VP

by Jeff Cork on Jul 23, 2012 at 04:02 AM

THQ is continuing its course-correcting efforts to recover from recent troubles with the announcement of a new executive vice president in charge of production. Ron Moravek co-founded Relic Entertainment and helped guide the sale of the Company of Heroes studio to THQ in 2004.

Moravek will report directly to THQ's president, Jason Rubin. He brings 14 years of experience to the position. In addition to his work at Relic, Moravek was vice president and COO of EA Canada.

“Ron is an exceptional development executive with unique perspective on the industry from both a creative and business point of view,” Rubin says. “His entrepreneurial experience as well as his ability to drive dynamic teams is a great fit for our strategic objectives. Additionally, Ron’s experience building high-quality products will help us continue to deliver great games and build upon our foundation to innovate digitally in the future.”

THQ has suffered numerous setbacks over the past few months, including fallout from the uDraw tablet, which flopped at retail. The company nearly had its stock delisted from the NASDAQ exchange after consistently trading below one dollar.
