Bastion 'Stranger's Dream' Announced

by Jim Reilly on Dec 09, 2011 at 06:00 AM

Supergiant Games announced new downloadable content is coming to Bastion next week.

Dubbed "Stranger's Dream," the content is due out on December 14 for both Xbox 360 and PC and includes the following:

  • The Stranger’s Dream: a new fully narrated Who Knows Where sequence, bigger and more challenging than the others. You’ll gain a bit more insight into Rucks’ backstory as well as the history of Caelondia if you can survive this fight.
  • Score Attack Mode: a challenging new way to play through the story! You start at level one with all Spirits and Idols unlocked. Your combat performance is rated for efficiency, and all areas are repeatable.
  • No-Sweat Mode: for those who just want to experience the story of Bastion, this mode provides unlimited chances to carry on from where you left off if you’re defeated in battle.

To access Stranger's Dream, you'll have to beat Bastion at least once and will be available early on in your New Game Plus or Score Attack play-through. Steam users will get the update for free automatically. Xbox Live users will download a Title Update that day that fixes a few game issues and then later must pay 80 Microsoft Points ($1) to download Stranger's Dream. The developer said they cannot make the content free due to Microsoft's policy with download content on Xbox Live.

If you didn't purchase it through Steam or Xbox Live, Supergiant said it's working with online vendors to update the Bastion installer so you can download the latest version with the update. Those playing over Google Chrome will get an automatic update as well.
