Kingdom Hearts 3DS Details Emerge

by Matt Miller on Nov 17, 2010 at 07:10 AM

Tetsuya Nomura has revealed some interesting tidbits about the upcoming 3D installment of the Disney mash-up franchise.

Japanese gaming blog andriasang took a look at Famitsu's latest interview with Nomura, and the blog has kindly passed on the most relevant details to stateside audiences.

Fan-favorite characters Sora and Riku will both be playable, and they'll appear as they did in the original Kingdom Hearts, apparently for story reasons. In terms of setting, all the Disney worlds will be brand new, rather than re-using already established worlds as some previous Kingdom Hearts games have done.

Perhaps most intriguing is the idea that the "3" in 3DS may end up tying the game to Kingdom Hearts III. Nomura hinted that elements of both the gameplay and story may transfer over to the next major numbered entry in the franchise.

Sadly, Nomura fails to answer the most pressing question facing fans. Is the world ready for a 3D Donald Duck? Only time will tell.
