Xbox 360 To Support USB Storage?

by Tim Turi on Mar 18, 2010 at 08:05 AM

The Xbox 360s storage capabilities are limited, to say the least. If you aren’t willing to shell out good money for first party hard drives or memory units, you’re pretty much out of luck. However, a new solution may be on its way. How does USB storage support this Spring sound?

Rumors have surfaced pointing to the Xbox 360s Spring 2010 firmware update may allow Xbox users to store their XBLA games, DLC, and installed disc-based games on an external hard drive. The obtained documents and trusted sources allege that the storage device must be a minimum of 1GB, allowing room for a 512MB system partition. After the USB device is formatted, up to 16GB can be used for Xbox 360 storage.

Keep in mind that even if these internal documents turn out to be real, that nothing is certain until Microsoft confirms it.
