Modern Warfare 2 Brings In A Billion
The money continues to roll in for Activision and Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward, with worldwide retail sales now surpassing $1 Billion according to internal Activision estimates.
“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has exceeded our expectations and shattered theatrical box office and video game records,” said Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. “There are only a handful of entertainment properties that have ever reached the $1 billion mark, which illustrates the power of the Call of Duty franchise and mass appeal of this game.”
Kotick is a happy man, obviously. The first of many Modern Warfare 2 landmark achievements came back in November, when five-day sales surpassed $550 million.
Does the fact that mega-hit has brought in a billion surprise you? Do you expect Modern Warfare 2 to keep selling? (Assuming everyone in the world doesn’t already own a copy.)
