GI Show 211: Walking Dead Ep. 4, Dark Souls II DLC, Microsoft Struggles
This week, we discuss two great episodic downloadable games and ponder Microsoft's recent struggles.
First up, Kim Wallace joins returning host Matt Helgeson for a discussion of "Amid the Ruins" – the fourth chapter in the second season of Telltale's The Walking Dead adventure series. While Kim had had her problems with the developer's The Wolf Among Us, so far its keeping up the high standards of the series that put it on the map.
In the second segment, we're joined by GI's resident Dark Souls expert Dan Tack to discuss the first in a trilogy of DLC for the game, The Crown of the Sunken King. There's a lot to love here for fans – especially those who crave the nonlinear structure and extreme difficulty of the first Dark Souls.Finally, Matt is joined by Matthew Kato and Matt Bertz to talk about some of the recent shakeups at Microsoft. The company has recently laid off as many as 18,000 workers, shuttered its Xbox Entertainment division, and drastically cut its European Xbox operations. Does this bode ill for the future of Xbox One? Listen in to find out.
