Shadow Of The Colossus' Remastered Soundtrack Receiving Vinyl Release
We'd wager Bluepoint Games is living up to its remastering reputation with Shadow of the Colossus. Considering the studio is building everything from the ground up as discussed in Ben Hanson's interview with the developer, it's no wonder the grand soundtrack is receiving the same careful treatment along with a vinyl release from iam8bit.
Priced at $40, the score will be housed on two translucent LP vinyls with spiffy colossi icons at their centers. The album case can also be spread out to reveal custom illustrations by Nimit Malavia, giving his previous artwork on The Last Guardian vinyl a run for its money. In addition, an insightful interview has been published featuring Shadow of the Colossus' composer Kow Otani. He talks about how he now has the chance to expand rather than alter the score with additional strings. Our Take:
Shadow of the Colossus is my favorite game from Fumito Ueda, and while The Last Guardian's soundtrack comes close, there's something ethereal and iconic about this game's score that has the edge. I love Otani's insightful commentary on the music being written as a "prayer" or "requiem." It makes me look at all of the songs in a different light. I'm hoping I'll be able to buy this on CD as a slightly more affordable option, but even still...that vinyl is tempting...and the prints.
