Street Fighter V Update Adds Vega Stage With Unique Character Advantage

by Craig Taylor on May 25, 2017 at 01:06 PM

Vega players will be getting a killer advantage in an upcoming May 30 update to Street Fighter V. The classic Spain stage from Street Fighter II is returning, and Capcom promises Vega players can climb the background cage, a property that appears unique to him. As the second boss in SF II, Vega's jumping, flipping, and climbing haunted players in the arcade. Now, longtime fans will get to relive that frustration online.

M. Bison's Thailand stage from Street Fighter II is also returning in the update after it had been pulled from the store for containing unintended religious references. Both will cost $3.99 or 70,000 Fight Money.

May 30 also sees the release of the new Capcom Fighters Network, which features new rage-quitting preventions, improved matchmaking and balance changes (the full patch notes can be found here). Anyone who logs on from May 30 until June 13 will receive a free 50,000 Fight Money gift.

Finally, Street Fighter V's newest fighter Ed will drop in the May 30 update. Ed was experimented on by S.I.N. when he was a child, and was viewed as a potential replacement body for Bison. He now incorporates the destructive Psycho Power into his boxing fighting style. Ed will be available for $5.99 or 100,000 Fight Money.

Our Take
Given the release of Ultra Street Fighter II, it makes sense that Capcom wants to whet fans' appetites with SF II DLC. With this new stage, it looks like climbing the cage as Vega will cost meter, so some thought was put into balancing it.
