Try Overwatch For Free On Consoles Next Weekend

by Jeff Marchiafava on Sep 01, 2016 at 08:14 AM

Blizzard is letting PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players try out its 6v6 hero shooter for free next weekend.

The free weekend runs from September 9-12 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will give players full access to all of Overwatch's heroes and maps. PlayStation 4 owners won't need a PS Plus account to take part in the event, but Xbox One owners will need an active Xbox Live Gold membership. Participating players can jump into Quick Play, Weekly Brawl, and custom matches, but it appears that the second season of competitive play – currently set to launch on September 6 – will be off limits (although it would take an amazing feat of leveling just to qualify anyway).

Blizzard says any experience and loot earned during the free weekend will carry over should players decide to purchase the full game. For additional information on the free weekend and to see what time it begins in your area, check out Blizzard's post.
