iam8bit Prepping A Physical Release And Crazy Vinyl Set For Rez Infinite

by Jeff Marchiafava on Aug 19, 2016 at 10:24 AM

The updated and VR-enhanced version of Tetsuya Mizuguchi's cult hit Rez is getting some impressive extras courtesy of iam8bit.

Mizuguchi announced the collector's items himself on the PlayStation.Blog, stating that his motive for creating Rez Infinite was pretty straightforward: You can't play the original Rez on any current-gen system. In addition to VR compatibility and some new (still undisclosed) bonus content, Rez Infinite is getting some cool collector's items, all of which are available for preorder now on iam8bit's site. The physical version of the game (which won't be available at retailers) will set you back $40, while audiophiles can pick up a 2xLP vinyl soundtrack set complete with a massive art book and bonus 7" record for $75. Rez-themed shirts and pins are also available.

Rez Infinite will be available digitally on PlayStation 4 on October 13. For more on the game, check out Brian Shea's preview from PSX 2015, where he tried out the VR integration and apparently entered the Matrix.

Our Take
Rez was an early, stylish entry in the rhythm/music genre, so I'm not surprised to see that the swanky extras for its rebirth pay tribute to the series' art and sound. Hopefully the reboot enjoys a bigger fan base than the original game got.
