Fan Demand Will Influence PC-To-Xbox One Game Streaming Ability

by Brian Shea on Mar 15, 2016 at 05:44 AM

The Xbox One's feature-set has steadily expanded upon since its launch in 2013, with one big feature being the further integration of Xbox One and PC through streaming games from Xbox One to a Windows 10 PC. it's a handy feature, but some have posed the question of whether the streaming will ever go the other way.

We asked director of programming Mike Ybarra if the potential to stream games from PC to Xbox One will ever be made available. "There’s nothing stopping us from doing that," he says. "If we see enough fans that say, ‘We want this ability,’ there’s nothing stopping us from doing it."

Ybarra also spoke to us about the possibility of sharing digital games, a huge increase in size for parties, and what he'd like to fix in the Xbox One's user interface.

Our Take
As someone who vastly prefers playing games on the couch versus a computer chair and desk, this would be a huge draw for me. Microsoft is touting the universality of Xbox One and Windows 10, so implementing this direction of streaming would only make sense. Now, the real question that comes into play is in regards to whether Microsoft would just enable this feature for games purchased through the Windows Store, or if any game purchased on clients like Steam or Origin would be eligible for the features.
