Thank You For Helping Us Raise Over $38,000 For Extra Life 2015

by Tim Turi on Nov 08, 2015 at 02:10 AM

Update: The Game Informer community somehow outdid itself this year. You all helped us knock it out of the park by contributing $38,108 to Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare via Extra Life at the time of publishing this article, well over double our goal from last year. It makes sense the GI community would pull off such an awesome feat, since our Extra Life efforts started as a community-driven event with heroes like Zach Pligge, Jeremy Brown, and Extra Life’s very own Jack Gardner. After Game Informer started getting officially involved with these livestreams, we’ve spent the last several years trying to put on a bigger, dumber show for you all, complete with worthwhile rewards to help drum up support for a worthy cause. We really did it this year, so everyone pat themselves on the back. The results prove that we’re on the right track, and we promise something even better next year. Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible, from all the guests on the livestream to the folks watching and donating at home. You’re all awesome and we don't regret any of the too many ghost peppers. Your rewards are on the way and we owe you one script-reading of George A. Romero’s canceled “Resident Evil” film.

Original Story: Fall is upon us in Minnesota, and the leaves are changing colors and the wind is beginning to bite once again. At least, that's what people tell us about autumn as we shutter ourselves inside to catch up on all the year's amazing games. The annual 24-hour Extra Life charity marathon is always a terrific opportunity to hole up and ignore the real world while streaming all the fun for a good cause. You can join us by enlisting to raise money in Team Game Informer, or by tuning into our livestream to join in the fun, win prizes, and contribute to a great cause.

Click the "tune in" link below to watch our livestream on Twitch, or you can check out the stream on YouTube.

DONATE NOW

Game Informer is back at it again when Extra Life 2015 officially kicks off on November 7 at 8 a.m. Central. We'll be broadcasting on Twitch and YouTube for a full 24 hours. Our goal this year is to raise $25,000 for Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare here in St. Paul, Minn. If we reach the $15,000 mark, we promise to finish the livestream with a live script reading of the supposedly awful rejected movie written by George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead).

We had a blast during our 2014 Extra Life livestream, and hope you'll join us again. Check out all the crazy fun we have planned in the schedule below, but also be sure to look further down the page at some prizes viewers can win, some by contributing generous donations.

On top of that overarching goal, we'll also have other enticements and rewards for generous donors. Remember, all the money raised goes to help kids in need:
