by Mike Futter on Nov 06, 2015 at 03:53 AM

Update: While not all the details were confirmed from the leaked image below, we do know that Legion is scheduled for Summer 2016. Based on the technical definition of "summer," the season ends on September 21, 2016.

Those that pre-order will get the level 100 boost and early access to the Demon Hunter when it's ready. You can read our rundown from Blizzcon for more information on what's to come in Legion.

Original Story:

It seems like another of Blizzard’s big announcements has slipped out in advance of the Blizzcon kickoff. We now have a general idea of when we’ll see the next World of Warcraft expansion, Legion.

An image that appeared on the Blizzard website (since removed) and identified by a Reddit user and published by Blizzard Watch, indicates that the wait could be another 10 months. Blizzard typically offers these types of windows when dating its content in order to set expectations with investors and players.

According to the image, those that pre-order will get a level 100 immediately character boost and a week of early access to the new Demon Hunter class. A standard version is priced at $49.99, with a digital deluxe edition pegged at $69.99.

The digital deluxe edition comes with the Illidari Felstalker mount for World of Warcraft, a Nibbles pet for World of Warcraft, Illidan wings for Diablo III, a mount for Heroes of the Storm, and portraits for Starcraft II.

The Blizzcon opening ceremony will start at 11 a.m. Pacific / 2 p.m. Eastern. We’ve reached out to Blizzard for comment and will update should we receive a response.

Our Take
This is a long time to wait for the next expansion, especially as subscriptions have dropped precipitously. Unfortunately, as Blizzard has decided not to report that metric moving forward, we’ll have a hard time identifying how this news impacts the user base.
