The Unfinished Mario Game That Combined Wrestling And Volleyball

by Matt Helgeson on Sep 18, 2014 at 03:27 PM

Images and rough footage of a very unique Mario Wii game has surfaced.

The game was in development at Next Level Games, the company that had made the soccer games Super Mario Strikers and Super Mario Strikers Charged, as well as the more recent Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

The game was originally conceived as a volleyball game, but gradually added gonzo wrestling combat to the mix. It's an interested "what might have been" story, we encourage to read the full story at Unseen64.

Our Take
I love it when footage and images of unreleased or unfinished games surfaces. In addition to getting a window into something we might have been able to play, I think it's a fascinating look behind the curtain of what goes on in developing and publishing games.
