La-Mulana 2 Turns To Kickstarter

by Kyle Hilliard on Jan 22, 2014 at 01:40 PM

Quietly announced last year with a teaser website, the sequel to La-Mulana has turned to Kickstarter for funding.

With a full month left to go, the game has raised just over half of its $200,000 with $105,549.

With the announcement of the game last year, we learned it would star the daughter of the protagonist of the first game. The Kickstarter campaign for the game reveals a few more details:

In La-Mulana 2, you will take on the role of Lumisa Kosugi on a mission to find the entrance to the ruins of Eg-Lana, which is rumored to be the source of recent monster appearances. The ruins themselves are compromised of a variety of areas as well as huge boss creatures known as Guardians. Who knows what lies in wait at the end of Eg-Lana?

A pledge of $12 is enough to get you a copy of the game when it releases, which is expected to be December 2015.

Our Take
La-Mulana seems like a good franchise to take to Kickstarter. It has gained a fair level of notoriety and has received critical acclaim (we scored it 8.5/10), but it's not as popular as the runaway success stories some indie games have had the good fortune to achieve. There are definitely fans who want more and will be happy to monetarily support a follow-up. I would be surprised if this Kickstarter didn't make its goal.
