Dead Rising 3's First DLC Has You Hunting For The President

by Jeff Cork on Dec 13, 2013 at 03:02 AM

Capcom Vancouver is now rolling out details about Dead Rising 3's post-release support. The first batch of announced DLC, Operation Eagle, that puts players in the role of a spec ops commander on a mission to track down the President of the United States.

The new character, Adam Kane (no relation) brings five new unannounced weapons with him, in addition to an additional combo weapon, vehicle, and clothing outfit. There are also new achievements to unlock. Capcom says the prestige points that players earn in this new mission will carry over to Dead Rising 3 proper, as well.

This is the first of four announced DLC packages. They'll be available to download for $9.99 apiece, or as part of a $29.99 season pass. There's no word yet on a specific release date for Operation Eagle,or what Kane will be doing with our Commander in Chief should he manage to succeed in capturing him.

Xbox One owners who haven't yet played the game can now download a demo to see if it's something they'd enjoy, too. The download, just over 7 GBs, gives players two 20-minute-long shots at Los Perdidos' Ingleton district. How you spend it is up to you. Our prediction? You will kill zombies.

Update: The Operation Eagle DLC will be available on December 27, 2013.

Our Take
I've been having a great time with Dead Rising 3, and I'm excited to see what kind of content the four DLC packs ultimately add to the game. We've only really seen one major post-launch add-on for Dead Rising, and that was Dead Rising 2's Case West. It was a fun diversion, but it wasn't as interesting as Dead Rising 2's prequel episode, Case Zero. As a fan of the series, I'm hoping that the Dead Rising 3 downloads are more about expanding the story than simply packing our virtual closets with more goofy clothes.
